Three Fold Mission of Surbiton Farmers Market

Natalie with her dedicated board and helpers (all volunteers), sees a clear threefold mission of the Surbiton Farmers Market

  1. COMMUNITY HUB bringing recognition, participation and a sense of pride and belonging to the people and businesses that rely on Maple Road and Surbiton as their home
  2. CHARITY with £60,000 donated to local charities as part of it’s charitable mission as a COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY (CIC). Each month a different charity is supported with a stall to promote themselves and raise money which the market ‘match funds’. In additon special relationships with local initiatives such as Kingston young Carers pays for trips to Disney on Ice and hens/livestock at the Balance Community Farm near Bushey Park
  3. BUSINESS with a vibrant high quality farm produce market where regular stallholders thrive (although they’ll never let on – but they keep coming back!). Local Maple Road businesses such as Gordon Bennett, The French Table and 97 all attract extra business from the market

Staying Ahead

INNOVATION is needed to keep the market attractive to regular and new comers. These are a few of the recent features laid on:

  • Jazz
  • Petting Zoo
  • Live Opera
  • Book Signings
  • Cookery Camps
  • Young Chef

Kingston Riverside Rotary – Bringing Communities Closer
